I met Julie Johnson, the owner and winemaker of Tres Sabores, at a Napa Valley Vintners meeting decades ago. I was presenting a theme graphic for the NVV’s marketing tours. We have been working together ever since.
After leaving Frog’s Leap, where Julie was the co-founder, we evolved her packaging for Tres Sabores into where it stands today. The brand has moved from the original Tres Sabores label to their premium tier Perspective package design – Julie’s much sought after Zins and Cabernet Sauvignons. New varietals have joined the Tres Sabores portfolio including Sauvignon Blanc and a Chardonnay. Julie has also played the role of négociant and produced new, fun wines with whimsical branding.
¿Por qué no? (translates “Why Not?), has its own stand alone personality. The package design expresses this bright and zesty Zin-Cab blend that is hard to miss on the shelf. It won a silver medal at the San Francisco International Wine Label Competition.
Julie is every bit as visual as I am. I have enjoyed our long collaboration and look forward to every new project.
